Jan 5, 2008 (Oakville, ON)
Back again for the second year, Friends of Canadian Cyclo-cross Racers is asking the Canadian cycling
community to visit their page and help send funds to the men and women who represent Canada at the
World Cyclocross Championships. |

For the last race of the year, the cross riders finally got the cold, muddy conditions they've been longing for all season as the Provincial Cyclocross Championships course
up at Albion Hills was blanketed with several inches of snow. A challenge many looked forward to
tackling, had a few intimidated and in the end, the white stuff got the better of several riders (and
several bikes too). |

You'd be forgiven if you mistook day 2 of the Toronto UCI-C2 International Pro-Am Race for a Senators - Leafs match. It was East meets West as the OBC, Cyclery, Ride with Rendall
and Stevens Cross riders duked it out with the GTA peloton - and the crew from Ottawa would not
have to face the 4 hour drive back home empty handed
Here's the action from day two. |

GREG "REAINS" SUPREME AT TORONTO UCI-C2 INTERNATIONAL PRO-AM RACE!
A great course designed by Scott Doel favoured the power riders in this 1st of a 2 day cross race.
Slightly longer than what we've seen all season, the rolling course had riders "hanging on for dear life" and the lure of UCI points brought in riders from out west and down south.
Here's a look at day one. |

A chilly day for the 1st annual Sunnidale Park Cross Race up in the City of Barrie. Put on by the
Barrie Cycling Club with design input by local star Andrew Watson, the course featured a slalom downhill
followed by a climb up a makeshift staircase.
If you caught the 6 o'clock news that night on A-Channel, you may have seen yourself on tv! |

Well, we tried to get you the same great motorcycle footage as the Cyclissimo GP but it didn't quite
work out. The brutal climb up Rattle Snake Point was still caught on camera as we walked and rode
the course at this year's Ontario Provincial Road Race Championships.
Congrats to Craig, Amit and Midweek for this great finale to the road season.

We only made it out to the Master 1/ Senior 1 Races for the Speed River Halloween Cross Weekend
but we still captured alot of the action in this 2 day 'cross stage race.
The Kelso Conservation Area provided a beautiful but challenging backdrop for the event. |

No mud fest this year for the Durham Cyclocross Classic.
The dry, flat, fast pace through the fall colours and winding trails of the Heber Down Conservation Area
in Whitby was not to be taken for granted as a few of the riders learned (the hard way).

A twist to this year's ZM Turkey Cross in Cedarvale Park with an uphill running start, clearly showed
who were track stars back in high school.
Ziggy's third annual race here turned out to be a true "Three-Pete" event. |

Forget to set your VCR/ PVR last Thursday morning when Breakfast Television's Live Eye crew
were out at Centennial Park promoting the UCI Cross Race?
In case you missed it, here's your 11 minutes and 45 seconds of fame. |

Not even the soggy weather was able to deter cyclists from coming out this year to participate in
the Ride for Karen. The ride is an annual event which raises funds towards the goal of building hope
for cancer patients.

This year's ZM Oktoberfest Challenge was held at Earl Bales Park in Toronto.
A few unconventional routes through the park amphitheatre brought out some
impressive performances. |

CROSS VIDEOS ARE HERE!!!
The Hamilton Cycling Club hosted this year's season opener at Valley Park.
Warm weather + flat course resulted in dusty conditions + high speeds. |

We tried to capture as much as we could at the MTB Provincial Championships
up at Hardwood Hills with our single camera. Here are a few of the scattered highlights we were able
to get and a bunch of Bone Shaker shots. |

The Cyclissimo Grand Prix is a well organized race contested on the same roads many of the local riders train on. Thanks to Stephane "Moto" Marcotte, our camera was able to get up close and
personal for this one. |

A small turnout but a great race right in the trails of the Don Valley.
Ziggy's got an eye for race venues and makes them happen. The ByeBike MTB Race was another
example of his commitment to the sport. |

A full day of cycling put on by the Midweek Club at the annual CHIN International was
fast, fast and fast! Top guns from the Symmetrics Team showed up to give the CHIN Picnic crowd
an action packed race! |

We've had many inquiries and the Newmarket Eagles' Tour of Speed is finally available on DVD!
Many thanks to Gord Clarke, Mark Summers and the Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club for putting this event together for the youth and future of the sport.

Deceptively difficult, the rolling course of the K-W Classic can wear down some of the toughest riders.
Our camera captured the Master 1 and Senior 1/2 races from a few key spots. |

You've seen him at the race finish lines running the timing and photo finish systems.
Doug Pogue has kindly sent us a few pics of some very close finishes of this year's Zig Zag and CHIN races.
Thanks Doug! |

Fostering the future of cycling, the Newmarket Eagles Youth Race was a challenging but fun
two stage road race up in the Town of East Gwillimbury. A time trial followed immediately by a
road race gave the Squirt, Peewee, Minime and Cadet fields a real opportunity to show their mettle. |

With the first weekend of June came the hot weather and some very hotly contested track racing
as the Forest City Velodrome hosted the Ontario Provincial Track Championships.
Rob Good and company put together three days of great racing - here's what we captured on the Saturday night. |

What better way to celebrate Mother's Day than with a mountain bike race at Albion Hills!
Sunny, dry and fast are the words best used to describe the conditions for the Plastiglas O Cup # 2.
Almost 800 participants came out to contest the course - from Peewees to Masters.

Considering he's only been in Toronto for about 2 years, Ziggy of ZM Cycle and Fitness
has put on some of the best races the city has seen in a long time.
Attendance was relatively low but the inaugural Zig Zag down by the Lake was a simple, picturesque
course that was fast, exciting and spectator friendly.

A massive field turned out for the 14th annual Paris - Ancaster race.
With a star studded field including the likes of Lynne Bessette, Tara Ross, Andrew Watson,
Mike Garrigan, Josh Hall and Nathan Chown to name a few, Powerhouse Pete (Morse)
showed he would be a force to be reckoned with this year with a convincing win ahead
of all of his rivals by almost three minutes.
The course proved to be a challenging one for us to film as well,
but here are the few highlights we were able to capture. |

A cold start to the road season with the Good Friday Road Race.
Put on by the Hamilton Cycling Club, the 18.5 km course proved to be a challenging one
where riders had to contend with the climbs, snow and wind.
Special thanks to Chris Kiriakopoulos for letting the film crew on the course! |

The 2007 Uxbridge Icebreaker was a wet and muddy one this year,
but racers still came out for the season opener in Durham Forest. |

Not what normally comes to mind when you think about bike racing,
but the annual Ice Race brings out the excitement, the crowds and the laughs.
Viewer discretion is advised for this one. |
